You certainly get to a lot of live music shows. I think very little of you in general, but I admire this trait. I used to be a very regular attendee at my local music clubs, but now only do so a couple of times a year. I guess what I am trying to say is, you are my hero...except for the gingham thing.

And you thought your job with Hallmark was in jeopardy. Yes, me likee live music and I try to get out as often as I can. At the same time, my universe of similarly aged friends and or colleagues joining me in such pursuit seems to get smaller every year.

At the same time, my universe of similarly aged friends and or colleagues joining me in such pursuit seems to get smaller every year. Part of my problem is my circle of friends and colleagues was never large (hmmm..perhaps related to my hallmark moment?) and now, I rarely find anyone interested in attending shows I'd like to see. Bummer. My threshold for getting bumped, jostled, and having drinks sloshed on my shoes is far to low for me to participate very often. My last visit to the 9:30 Club two summers ago may have been my last show. Wolf Trap. Now thats a sweet venue.

| OK, I have just one question:
In the script meeting when the writers said we are planning on having the terrorists sneak into the White House, shoot it up, and then take the President hostage, I want to know which of the producers said "great idea, totally believable, our audience will have no problem with that at all."
Because his ass should be sitting next to mine on the un-employment line.

Because his ass should be sitting next to mine on the un-employment line. I believe they are same guys who make 99% of TV shows...most of which are similarly implausible yet highly popular. Ever watch that CSI Miami show? I had it on for 5 minutes and I am absolutely floored it is one of the most popular shows on TV. Bad acting, wholly improbable action, wooden David Caruso character. Yikes! These are also the same guys who say people who watch network TV are a bunch of morons who believe anything.

| I know that scripted television is supposed to be an escape from reality - and some shows, especially '24' - take a particular bend to suspension of belief. However, one of the things that makes '24' such gripping television to me is the thought that scenarios like this COULD be happening. Last night, the writers/director(s)/producers took way too many liberties with what is possible and what is sheer fantasy. * Assuming that there COULD be a breach of the White House (which is far-fetched, to say the least), how is it that the security cameras that seem to be everywhere failed to get anyone's attention that there were armed, camoflaged men storming the halls of the West Wing while they were mowing down Secret Service personnel - supposedly, the most well-trained security force in all the land? * Assuming that there COULD be a breach of the White House (which is far-fetched, to say the least), and security forces manage to get the President to lock-down, why wouldn't the room have a secured phone line for communication out that couldn't be compromised? * Assuming that there COULD be a breach of the White House (which is far-fetched, to say the least), and security forces manage to get the President to lock-down, why would the security force LET THE FUCKING PRESIDENT OUT OF THE ROOM AND INTO THE HANDS OF TERRORISTS??? On the other hand, the "chair of shame" made two appearances last night. I think the '24' drinking game should include a chug call whenever anyone is seated in the chair of shame. | |

| Actually, I could believe that Jack and the President didn't have a cell phone. He was in custody and she - well, she's the President. I could see her having an unsecured cell phone would pose a security threat. A lot of companies that do government contract work around here ban cell phone usage - forbidden on property, if I am not mistaken. I would think that the White House may have a similar protocol for many of the rank and file workers that were held hostage. Besides, it would seem that the terrorists would do something to compromise the communications network. | |
