While my limited insights would prompt me to say you are pretty accurate for the west coast...the popular vision of the liberal east coast is distorted. It runs pretty much uninterrupted as you imagine from South Maine to suburban NJ, but then there are major breaks from Central NJ down to the Baltimore/DC area followed again by huge gaps...even long stretches...all the way down to the central FL coast. Even Long Island has been a traditional republican, conservative strong hold. Admittedly this is less about some political philosophy and more about who had the better payola...but it is true none the less.

I am pretty sure you can just ask and they'll give us the oil. They are so polite in Canada.

If they don't give it, we can threaten to cut off all the American reality TV shows.

I am telling you, Canadians are really polite. If we just ask, and maybe tell them we think it is charming how they say the word "about" they'll just give us their oil.

I'm pretty sure they'd trade us straight up for some beer.

Or maybe some "magic beans."

As far as I'm concerned they still owe us for the MacKenzie brothers.

The magic beans thing won't work. If I remember right, POW tried that with a hooker in Montreal on his last trip.

Imagine....not taking magic beans as payment? That's just loony.
