Passover/Seder question

Post by The Goddess on Thu Apr 02, 2009 9:27 am

OK...I finally wheedled my way into a friend's seder. YAY!

I would like to take the hosts some cookies as a host/hostess gift. But Passover lasts a couple of days, right? And there is a thing against wheat during passover, right? I don't want to take them cookies if they can't eat them.

Help this shiksa out.

don't make cookies.

there is a bunch of sweet things you can make for them if you search under kosher for passover desserts.

that said, matzo meal is not the best ingrediant to bake with.

Flourless chocolate cake might be a good route.

this is just not a good baking holiday, it's one of the crosses we jews have to bear.

clothier speaks the truth. I like the Passover foods but the baked goods, made with potato starch and matzo cake meal are generally lackluster. I would add that Macaroons are a good choice for Passover sweets.

OK...so no baked goods for a host/hostess gift. Any other ideas (besides flowers--as a frequent hostess, I don't particularly like this, because the last thing I want to do when I am doing last minute kitchen stuff is to have to find a vase).

I'm personally not a big fan of flowers. Perhaps a nice Kosher for Passover wine (there actually are a few good ones) or an assortment of Passover candies (these should be readily available in your area) would be good choices.

I think that the best gift you could bring -- and Lord knows that the more uptight members of "the tribe" here will get their yamikas in a wad over the following -- is the general, limited tolerance of the Jewish people for, at least, the duration that you're there.

I always thought it would be a great prank for when we opened the door for Elijah to have one of my buddies walk in.

My parents would have shit.
