| I watched this last night, and was disturbed. The host and her guest spend the majority of this conversation describing how Obama's planned tax policy is not anything remotely "socialist". They then describe how there has been a redistribution of wealth to the wealthy and now they think there should be a giving back or sharing of that wealth to the public...such as "McCain sharing his 7 houses". Isn't this pretty much what socialism is? It seems the last minute of this clip undid the argument put forth in the first 7 and 1/2 minutes. Rachel Maddow video | |

| Whether or not he's a sleeper Isalamofascist Manchurian Candidate Anti-Christ or not (And he is. Definitely. The number of the beast is tatooed just above the hairline about his left ear, the LEFT one, dig?), he is far to the left of anything thats ever landed on a major party candidacy. His voting record is farther left than Ted Kennedy.
The first thing that freaked me about the guy was his stated intent to double US foreign aid. We already give more than the whole rest of the world put together. This kind of "It takes a village," fuckweasel is bad bad news for those of us who work for our gruel.
I just don't get the vitriol against those w/ money. I don't have any, but I appreciate the fact that those who do already bear the bulk of the tax burden in this country, and what would we do without the salacious escapades of Paris and the rest of the leisure class to occupy our lurid sophomoric fantasie?

There's a pretty simple solution. Stop working and go on the public dole. I am sure you'll like living in public housing, going to the free clinic (probably a good place to meet easy chicks), and eating large blocks of gub'ment cheese. Trust me....you'll show them!

I think that the Obama campaign would like it if we all thought of the sinister 5% as people like Paris, and while there are certainly many like her, the 5% also includes a lot of people who already pay their "fair share" and then some. The discussion in that video I linked to made it sound like everyone with money got it from a trust fund or from some government bailout program, doesn't deserve to have it, and needs to give it back. What are the stats... In 2002 the latest year of available data, the top 5 percent of taxpayers paid more than one-half (53.8 percent) of all individual income taxes, but reported roughly one-third (30.6 percent) of income. The way I learned fair, the top 5% should pay 30.6% of the taxes, since that is what their income represents. I don't get how "in the interest of fairness" this imbalance needs to be skewed further. Just say we need those top income people to help more, and hope they will do so willingly because it is the moral thing to do and will help the country...but don't package it as something being done in the pursuit of fairness, as that is total bullshit.

Trust me....you'll show them! I have more sympathy for those folks than the ones we prop up by dumping billions into the pockets of corrupt officials that are running failed nations all over the world into the ground, but thanks for the vote of confidence.

| I encourage all of you to quit your jobs and move into public housing. Baltimore has the Poe Project, which is really nice. It's fascinating to see that you are against lower taxes for yourselves. Maybe you are entrepreneurs like Joe the Plumber and plan to buy a business and earn huge $'s as soon as you pay your late tax bills, and quadruple your income. |

| at this point in the campaign, more so then at any other, talk is cheap.
I don't think either of them is saying anything more then words and they are both so busy posturing to the people they believe that they need to vote for them that I've stopped listening.
Wait.
I think I could have posted this 6 months ago. I don't know that any one is listening any more. I don't think there are any un-decideds left, do you?
Besides, promising is one thing, getting it done is another, and I don't think either candidate is going to have the horses to get anything done.

| It looks like the Dem's are going to pick up enough seat to have a big enough majority to get a lot of things done. Maybe you guys should just ignore the tax break, or better yet, send a monthly check to the wealthy person of your choice. |

| As I'm sure you noticed, that was gridlock. Nothing substantive was passed. This way, the true liberal agenda will run unfettered for the next two years. You neo, paleo, and just rank and file conservatives will scream bloody murder. The economy will improve, less abortions will be performed, and jobs will be created. Just like it was in the Clinton years. |

Actually, this sounds pretty good. I just have basic cable now, and cheese, well who doesn't like cheese?

| PA is a proud blue state, but I honestly do live where there are quite a few Steelers fans and lot's of camo wearing guys named Bucky. A couple of years a go a fine resident of our town had a letter published in our paper complaining about the "Spaniards" coming to live in our little town. A very proud moment. |

I had a chance to meet Lou Barletta at a cook out in NE PA this summer. As I understand it, he was (is?) the mayor of Hazelton but is now running for congress. I understand he also had issues with the Spaniards and made English the official language of Hazelton...and this made him very popular with guys wearing camo. Yes it did.

| They were illegals. My friend was against them in totality. Making English the official language in Hazelton is like making polyester the official fabric in Dundalk. |

| If the good people of Hazleton want to recognize an official language why is that a problem? The only purpose they serve anyway is to be the focus of liberal mockery. Why are the Hazletonianites such a threat to you?
BTW, have you seen the size of the McCain/Palin yard signs? Fucking MASSIVE. You dems are so screwed now.

| They are no threat, unless is we get into a red beet egg eating contest, then we are screwed. I do see the signs and you know what they say about over-compensating. |
