More Lions talk
so, saw this at SI.com today, and was thrilled:
Under coordinator Gunther Cunningham, the 2008 Chiefs set an NFL record for pass-rushing futility with only 10 sacks. They also set team records for most yards allowed in a game, most points allowed in a game, and biggest lead squandered in a loss. Cunningham has become defensive coordinator for the winless Detroit Lions.
The dream is alive.
0-fer - 32, baby!

On a related note, seeing Matt Millen on NBC-TV's Super Bowl coverage was the current equivalent of catching Bernie Madoff on PBS' Business Week.

Re: More Lions talk
Speaking of the Lions, Washington Post scribe Norman Chad has a GREAT line in his piece today entitled The Sad-Sack Lions Have Become Destiny's Children and in describing the positives of the team now being "freed" of Matt Millen and his making the team suffer "through some of the worst NFL drafts ever" by describing the former Lions President as...

"...he made the Skipper in 'Gilligan's Island' look like Vasco da Gama..."

Re: More Lions talk
i'm pretty sure they won't be a team of destiny, the o and d line still suck, no secondary, no linebackers, one reciever, and one old washed up q.b., and one new, untested qb.
and i had to look up who vasco da gama was.

Re: More Lions talk
First move for the Lions is to move to a real city. I hear Orlando is looking for a team.
Or, show they are really from Detroit and go for a government bailout.

dude, do you REALLY want to start this with me? I'm pretty sure the rest of the folks here are pretty tired of what my response is going to be, and I bet some of them could even post my reply for me. So, here's the deal:
Do the rest of your WOT fellow citizens a favor, and offer up your apology, ok?

Re: More Lions talk
Champ, You got a problem with the truth, not me. It's a faultering football team, nothing else. A new owner and a new city would be a good thing. You could still be their main cheerleader(insert photo) even if they are called the Central Florida Lions. Or maybe the Las Vegas Lions?

Re: More Lions talk
dude, 0-16. perfect. never happened before. there's no faultering there. It's unwavering ineptitiude.
and detroit is a real city. full of real people.
and by the way, Ford? you remember them, right? never took any bailout money. and the guy who owns the Lions? a Ford.
So, pick on the team all you like, but leave detroit out of it.
I'm awaiting your apololgy.

Re: More Lions talk
Come on Champ. Ford needs to make the same major changes with the Lions that they did with their car company(which is no longer run by a Ford family member). Well maybe no as drastic. Afterall, we wouldn't want the Guadalajara Lions.
Sorry to be the one to enlighten you.
