Oh, Pool Boy...

Have you had it?
Good googily-moogily!! This may be the best California blended red I've ever tasted. A blend of Syrah, Mouvedre, Grenache and Petite Sirah grapes aged in oak, this otherwise horribly-named wine knocked my socks off when we had such this weekend. I know nothing about the vineyard nor its other products but was curious to learn that it's located not in California's Napa or Sonoma Valleys but much farther south and in between Monterey and Santa Barbara. (In fact, Cass seems to be located not to far from San Luis Obispo. Didn't you and the Goddess tour that region not that long ago?)
More importantly and, again, have you had it?

It's not really that he went all upscale. It's just that you know he usually drinks this....

Re: Oh, Pool Boy...
Nope and honestly had never heard of them. We did not have enough time to tour the San Luis Obispo area for wineries on our trip out that way, sadly (I wished we had more vacation time to spend on that trip!).
But Steven Tanzer, a respected wine critic, seems to agree with you giving the 2005 and 2006 vintages 90 points each. Looks like a winner to me.
So this is about $35-$45 per bottle, right?

The place we had it listed it for $ 50 a bottle but also had a retail license to sell it "to go" for ten bucks less so, yes, you're in the ballpark. Do try it if you can get a bottle.

I have not had it but I hear it's the perfect wine to wash down a ham sandwich.

I looked for it yesterday at a PA "State Store", but didn't find it. picked up St Supery Meritage instead.

Since this is a family vacation I have promised not to use any prerformance enhancing drugs (unless you count Viagra). I attribute any wit sharpening to the restorative powers of swimming in the Pacific Ocean. Kinda like when all those olf farts in "Cocoon" jumped into that swimming pool.

Is Steve Gutenberg with you? I was wondering what happened to him.

I bet you could rent Steve Gutenberg - but, not in a Latvian whore kind of way.
He'd be great at parties. He'd probably show off that same dead pan humor he used when he played on Barney Miller.
