I'm not sure about this...

it seems to me if this story is true http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/football/nfl/09/07/merriman.ap/index.html also known as Merriman v Tequila, rather then calling the police for abuse, shouldn't we be calling the police for having him just not out-right killed her to put us out of our misery?
